The person that came up with the idea to dance for weight loss is a genius. Take your pick from country line dancing to belly dancing and all that's in between, no matter what style you choose, you're sure to have fun and be challenged. As long as you have a little rhythm you'll love dancing to lose weight and the more you do it the more you will want to do it.

Of course, once you get those dance moves down you will be the life of the party. You'll be the go to guy or go to girl; the popular one. The first thing you need to do is decide whether you want to dance at home or in a class; if you choose home, all your dancing can done by video at your own convenience. It will also make it easier to have a friend or family member join you. On the other hand, if you choose a dance class there will be a set time which may or may not be convenient and new people to meet. Which could be a good thing; it's nice to have others in life that enjoys the same interest as you.

Or you could do both, learn new moves in class and come home to practice them. This would escalate your progress, help you lose weight faster, and be twice as much fun. Once you get started you won't want to stop, dancing will be part of your lifestyle just like any other exercise program. Consequently, you will be healthier and more active than ever before and most likely won't gain back the weight you lost.

When you choose to dance for weight loss it is the best choice you can make for a lifetime of fun and good health. All other forms of exercise pale in comparison to dancing when it comes to fun and versatility. Obesity -- the condition of being significantly above one's healthy weight -- is a health crisis in Alabama. Across our state, the number of overweight and obese individuals is rapidly increasing. In fact, almost 65% of the population of Alabama is overweight or obese. The difficulty comes in restricting caloric intake - the primal urge to eat when hungry is almost irresistible.

Many people who suffer from obesity also have disordered relationships with food, consuming food to quell uncomfortable emotions rather than for nutrition or the pleasure of eating. In fact, many among the obese in our state are food addicts, plagued by a constant desire to eat even when they are not hungry.

Obesity is not a character flaw. It is a medical condition requiring medical treatment. Sadly, the pain and emotional trauma of obesity often leads those with the disease to attempt self-treatment. Many obese persons try to lose their excess weight by means of gimmicks, fad diets, exercise programs, or so-called weight-loss pills. These efforts lead some to lose significant weight, but most quickly regain it after they discontinue their weight loss program. Many people suffer damage to their health as a result of such quickie "cures".

No miracle cure for obesity exists. The only way to successfully treat the disease of obesity is through medical care, based upon a complete change in the patient's lifestyle and eating habits. To beat obesity we must change the way Alabamans think about and relate to food, enabling us to eat better food and less of it.

For most of us, education, counseling, support, and willpower are enough to accomplish this. For the rest, another option exists: weight loss surgery.

Christian Weight Loss - 5 Keys to Stop Temptation From Ruining Your Diet

Good vs. Evil. We see it everyday in the world around us, yet we don't think of weight loss in those terms.

What did the devil use in his first temptation -- food! Since it worked so well the first time, don't you think he'd continue to use food as a temptation?

There are many good diet programs out there that will help you lose weight. Where they fall short is they talk about temptation as if it is something that just happens to you. They don't address who is tempting you (the devil) and how to combat the devil's temptations to continue to lose weight and keep it off.

From my experience, weight loss is a game. You think of food and the game begins. The devil tempts, and you react. If you give in the devil laughs and you gain weight.

I believe the devil wants you to lose weight. He knows that if you lose some weight and gain it back, you'll be more depressed than if you had not lost any weight at all.

So, how do you fight the devil? The following five keys are critical to your success.

1) Present moment awareness
Many studies have shown that successful people spend most of their time focused on the present, not daydreaming about the past or future. It is when you are daydreaming about the past or future that you often reach for "comfort foods" which is a nice way of saying the devil is tempting you. Being aware of what is happening is critical to weight loss success.

2) Visual (Awareness) cues
In the Bible God instructed the people of Israel to use awareness cues to remember to keep his commandments. God had them add tassels to their garments so when they looked at them they'd remember his commandments and observe them. I figure they must be a pretty good idea if God came up with them. Use anything that will help you stay focused ( pictures, crosses, figurines, music, etc.) around the house, at work, in your car etc. to keep you on track.

3) You have a voice, use it for good!
The Bible talks of the power of the word. You must be careful and watch what you say when trying to lose weight. What you say can affect you in a positive or negative way. Positive affirmations and prayers have been proven work, use them throughout the day.

4) Visualization
You already do it all the time without even realizing it. Your mind thinks in pictures, not words. If I say "red barn", what comes to mind? A picture of a red barn, not the words red barn. Super successful people in all walks of life understand the importance of visualization and make sure it is only used in ways that will benefit them. What a wonderful gift from God but few realize how important it is.

5) Read your Bible with anticipation
Read the Bible as if it were your favorite mystery novel, a book that you can't put down. Before you start, ask God for guidance, telling him you can't wait to see what he is going to reveal to you as you read. You'll be amazed at the insights he gives you.

While our discussion here is weight loss, these same keys can be used to deal with temptation in other areas of your life as well.

Simple Easy Weight Loss

Diets in general are wrong on one essential thing. Most fad diets insist that weight loss can be done via one way or the other. The raw food diet insists that you can lose weight eating uncooked foods. The Atkins diet insists that we stop eating carbohydrates. The slim fast diet insists that you should stop eating and start buying their shakes. All of these diets have one thing in common, the same thing that makes each and every one of them not effective at loosing weight.

All of these diets restrict the types of foods that we eat.

The reason that these diets do not work is because they restrict the types of food that you are allowed to eat. Weight loss can only be done when the body is getting the resources it needs to maintain itself in peak condition. By limiting the types of foods we consume we limit the resources out body gets. Simply put, our body cannot function properly and so weight loss becomes secondary to trying to stay healthy.

The simple truth behind this is easily seen. Most people who have been on a fad diet will usually experience some sickness, usually covered up by those who are selling the fad diet as a 'cleansing period'. In reality this sickness, usually headaches or diarrhea, are just our bodies telling us that what we are eating is not correct for our bodies. The lack of specific nutrients and minerals or even basic things such as proteins and carbohydrates makes our bodies more and more ill as without them they cannot function properly.

There are risks involved with poor nutrition. In extreme cases of poor nutrition, such as in many fad diets all our major systems will stop functioning properly. The immune system will become weaker and we will get basic sicknesses such as colds and the flue more and more often. Our energy and motivation to do everyday things is reduced as our muscles start to atrophy, making us physically weaker and weaker. This in turn makes us more prone to physical injuries such as broken bones and the like. Our ability to learn things quickly can become impaired quite quickly with poor nutrition. Think of how easily people lose concentration due to skipping breakfast. Now think of what would happen when you skip the equivalent of breakfast and dinner as you do in a nutritional sense in many fad diets. Driving a car requires a lot of attention. When you have an balanced diet, driving is quite easy even though it requires awareness of the surroundings past that of what our normal vision can see. With a poor diet. concentration and awareness can lapse leading to dreadful things.

An effective diet should be based around one concept. The human body needs a balance of foods for optimal condition to be achieved and so a diet that works to keep you healthy and allow you the chance lose weight will be one which consists of all the foods in the food pyramid.

A proper diet should not be a chore but a way of life, something which we don't really think about and is easy to do.
